On the way to being your best 26.2 miles

As a special needs parent I oftentimes have to dig deep into ways to stay motivated. I could use my life’s example as a running marathons on a daily basis. At least that’s how it feels like emotionally.

When your child is unable to express how he feels and what’s bothering him, life might look like a series of uphills and downhills. When things go smoothly you can relax and run the downhill portion feeling at your best. When something happens – do your best to keep your running form nice and tall and keep moving.

One of the reasons I decided to train for a marathon this year is seeing marathon training as a way to being my best. The distance of 26.2 miles takes lots of mental and physical preparation and brings the best in you over the months of training. You have to do different types of runs such as long runs, tempo runs and interval workouts, supplement it with building core strength, doing proper stretching and taking a good care of your health. In simple words, marathon training is difficult and it takes a good amount of self-discipline to make it work. Is it worth the effort? Yes, absolutely!

As I was listening to Meb Keflezighi’s book 26 Marathons I was highly inspired by his story. “Like the marathon, life can sometimes be difficult, challenging and present obstacles, however if you believe in your dreams and never ever give up, things will turn out for the best.” ~ Meb Keflezighi
