It’s been a while since my last writing. One good excuse would be – life gets too busy at times. Too busy for listening to yourself, too busy for doing things you love. Too busy to get a piece of paper and pencil to write down a few words on how things are going and what comes along the way.
Last week was full of rains – not a typical weather for New Jersey where the weather changes a few times a day. But this time a tropical storm kept raining without stopping leading to a state of emergency due to flood in some areas.
Needless to say I had to do a long run this weekend. It stopped raining on Saturday and Sunday morning I thought to give it a try.
While stomping through the piles of mud and leaves in the flooded park, I was thinking of how we have to take things one mile at a time. Instead of stopping because it was way too muddy, you can see what the next mile brings in. This simple thought brought me to running in circles around the duck pond where it was all shiny and dry. The pace increased and it turned into a joyful run.
Later on I was reflecting on this run thinking on further marathon training strategy: Giving it your best one mile at a time.
Total distance for the day: 14 miles
